In March, the Hong Kong Buildings Department approved a total of 15 building plans, including 3 on Hong Kong Island, 4 in Kowloon, and 8 in the New Territories. These plans include 8 residential and mixed-use developments, 1 commercial development, 1 factory and industrial development, and 5 community service developments.
A total of 10 construction projects were approved to start work, which will provide a total of 74,150 square meters of residential floor area with 794 units, and 28,202 square meters of non-residential floor area. Additionally, the department also received notifications for the start of overhead construction for 6 building projects.
Furthermore, the Buildings Department issued 23 occupation permits, including 10 on Hong Kong Island, 8 in Kowloon, and 5 in the New Territories. The residential floor area of these buildings totals 147,050 square meters with 2,577 units, while the non-residential floor area is 70,865 square meters. The total value of newly completed buildings in March is approximately 8.6 billion Hong Kong dollars.
In addition, the Buildings Department approved 9 demolition projects. In March, the department received 3,299 reports of unauthorized building works and issued 676 demolition orders for unauthorized structures.
