On May 15, the Monetary Authority of Macau announced that the total foreign exchange reserves of the Macao Special Administrative Region at the end of April 2025 were preliminarily estimated to be 229.2 billion Macanese patacas (28.68 billion US dollars), a decrease of 2.8% compared to the revised total of 235.8 billion Macanese patacas (29.43 billion US dollars) in March 2025. The total foreign exchange assets at the end of April 2025 are equivalent to approximately 11 times the circulation currency in Macau at the end of March 2025, or 87.7% of the part of Macau patacas in the broad money supply (M2) in March 2025.
