The Ministry of Transportation released the April urban rail transit operation data flash report.
Recently, the Ministry of Transport released the operational data of urban rail transit in April. In April 2025, a total of 54 cities in 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps opened 326 urban rail transit lines, with an operational mileage of 10,975.8 kilometers. A total of 3.61 million trains were operated, carrying 2.85 billion passengers and serving 1.7 billion passengers. In April, the passenger volume decreased by 30 million compared to the previous month, a decrease of 1.0%, but increased by 90 million compared to the same period last year, a 3.3% increase. The average passenger transportation intensity of the total operational mileage in April was 0.865 million passengers per kilometer per day, an increase of 2.1% month-on-month and a decrease of 3.5% year-on-year. There were no new lines opened this month. Among them, 43 cities opened and operated 268 subway and light rail lines, with an operational mileage of 9507.8 kilometers, carrying 2.75 billion passengers and serving 1.63 billion passengers; 16 cities opened and operated 25 monorail, maglev, and urban rapid rail transit lines, with an operational mileage of 970.7 kilometers, carrying 869.5 million passengers and serving 580.9 million passengers; 18 cities opened and operated 33 tram and automated guided rail lines, with an operational mileage of 497.3 kilometers, carrying 10.47 million passengers and serving 9.9 million passengers.
