Lenovo launches 21 new storage products.
Recently, Lenovo announced the largest storage product portfolio update in the company's history, releasing 21 storage products and a new Lenovo data storage solution to help enterprises in the IT industry meet the challenges of the artificial intelligence era with higher efficiency, performance, and scalability. With these solutions, businesses can easily run artificial intelligence and data modernization workloads on Lenovo ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile infrastructure, unlock the potential of data, achieve real-time inference, and deploy artificial intelligence on a large scale. As enterprise leaders seek tangible returns on artificial intelligence investments, Lenovo commissioned research from IDC that found data sovereignty, compliance, and availability to be key factors affecting the success of artificial intelligence implementation in the eyes of CIOs, while data quality, information technology costs, and integration with existing systems are major obstacles. The new product portfolio demonstrates Lenovo's continued commitment to launching innovative storage solutions to meet the evolving needs of modern data centers, while helping enterprises fully leverage data. Scott Tease, Vice President and General Manager of the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group, said when discussing helping enterprises "seize the transformative capability of artificial intelligence": "New [systems] can help customers accelerate value realization regardless of where they are in the modernization of information technology process, with plug-and-play artificial intelligence solutions that reduce risk and simplify deployment." The product portfolio includes 21 new ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile models equipped with accelerated computing and efficiency enhancement features needed to embark on the artificial intelligence journey, support employee productivity, and maximize value with enterprise artificial intelligence, virtualization, and sustainability solutions. Key innovations include plug-and-play entry-level artificial intelligence kits, the industry's first liquid-cooled hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) devices, and integrated hybrid cloud and virtualization solutions. The data storage solutions are optimized for easy deployment, faster inference, workload integration, and lower total cost of ownership (TCO), providing enhanced features focused on the following five areas: ThinkAgile SDI V4 series: Provides a full-stack, plug-and-play solution to simplify information technology infrastructure and accelerate data-driven inference calculations. New ThinkSystem storage arrays: Compared to the DE4000, the DE4800F offers up to 3 times higher performance and lower energy consumption; the DG7200, compared to Lenovo devices using 10,000 rpm hard drives, can save up to 97% in energy consumption, increase density by 99%, help reduce data center footprint, lower overall ownership costs, and help customers achieve energy savings and emission reduction when upgrading traditional infrastructure. New integrated ThinkAgile and ThinkSystem hybrid cloud and virtualization systems: Enable flexible and efficient independent scaling of computing and storage capabilities, with software licensing costs (non-core-based licensing) reduced by up to 40%. The hybrid solutions for VMware that ThinkAgile has created incorporate enterprise-grade features from the ThinkAgile VX series - lifecycle management and operational simplicity, as well as data management features from the ThinkSystem DG series storage arrays, providing a unified private cloud platform to support mixed storage workloads. New ThinkAgile HX series GPT-in-a-Box solution: Using Lenovo Neptune liquid cooling technology and the industry's first liquid-cooled HCI device, the solution enables end-to-end artificial intelligence inference from the edge to the cloud, with the HX V4 saving up to 25% in energy consumption compared to the HX V3 generation. New Lenovo Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Platform entry-level artificial intelligence kit: Provides verified, flexible, and easy-to-use enterprise-grade inference and retrieval-enhanced (RAG) workflow solutions. Marco Pozzoni, Director of Storage Sales for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group, said: "Our largest-ever data storage product portfolio update provides the performance, efficiency, and data reliability needed for data modernization and enterprise artificial intelligence workloads." LENOVO GROUP believes that enterprises are transitioning to a distributed infrastructure architecture, transforming computing, storage, and networking into on-demand, shared resources to meet changing needs and improve scalability, efficiency, and flexibility. The new Lenovo Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Platform's entry-level artificial intelligence kit is a pre-configured and validated infrastructure system that includes computing, storage, graphics processors, and networking. Its storage unit is the ThinkSystem series storage array, produced under contract by NetApp, utilizing high-performance solid-state flash memory technology to provide unified file, block, and object storage functionality. In addition to offering the most extensive and open data storage solution series, Lenovo has now introduced the industry's first liquid-cooled HCI devices as part of the ThinkAgile V4 series, delivering efficiency gains for high-energy artificial intelligence workloads, with energy savings of up to 25% compared to the previous generation products. With this innovative technology, the new Lenovo GPT-in-a-box, combined with liquid cooling technology, uses the Lenovo ThinkAgile HX full-stack generative artificial intelligence solution to lower energy costs with reusable solutions, achieve faster data-driven artificial intelligence inference, and accelerate return on investment and innovation speed. Furthermore, LENOVO GROUP previously announced the acquisition of Infinidat, allowing it to enter the high-performance enterprise block storage array market. This will provide the company with proprietary storage intellectual property and sales channels targeting enterprises with different characteristics.
