Next week is the May Day Golden Week, and it is expected that a large number of mainland Chinese tourists will continue to visit Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Immigration Department estimates that during the five-day May Day Golden Week (from May 1st to 5th), about 840,000 mainland visitors will enter Hong Kong through various sea, land, and air control points. The daily average number of visitors to Hong Kong is expected to increase by approximately 10% compared to last year's May Day Golden Week and 13% compared to this year's Spring Festival Golden Week.

A spokesperson for the Hong Kong government stated that the market in Hong Kong is expected to be more lively and prosperous during this year's May Day Golden Week, bringing opportunities to various industries. According to data from last year, about 766,000 mainland Chinese visitors arrived in Hong Kong during the May Day period.
The Hong Kong Immigration Department also estimates that this year's May Day Golden Week will see about 5.71 million people (including Hong Kong residents and visitors) entering and leaving Hong Kong through various sea, land, and air control points. It is expected that about 4.9 million people will pass through various land border control points entering and leaving Hong Kong. The peak period for land exits is expected to be on May 3rd (Saturday) with approximately 590,000 exits; while the peak period for land entries is expected to be on May 5th (Monday) with approximately 580,000 entries.
On April 25th, Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration Cheung Kin-chung chaired a cross-departmental working group meeting to comprehensively coordinate and supervise the preparation work of various government departments for receiving mainland visitors during the May Day Golden Week. Cheung Kin-chung stated that there will be a significant increase in visitors to Hong Kong during the May Day Golden Week, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government will make preparations for receiving visitors, including crowd management, information dissemination, public transportation, and arrangements at various ports, to respond promptly to any unforeseen circumstances.
