In 2025, breakthrough progress is expected to be made in autonomous driving. Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet (GOOG.US, GOOGL.US), announced that its autonomous driving service has expanded to new areas in Silicon Valley. Starting now, this 24/7 unmanned taxi service will operate in certain areas of Mountain View, Los Altos, Palo Alto, and Sunnyvale. At the same time, Lyft (LYFT.US) is preparing to launch autonomous driving services later this year in Atlanta, and Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) plans to launch Siasun Robot & Automation taxis in Austin in June this year. It is worth noting that the British autonomous driving startup Wayve is preparing for its first commercial debut. CEO Alex Kendall stated that the company will soon be collaborating with global automotive companies in the US and Germany to launch driving assistance systems. Wayve stands out in the autonomous driving industry by selling software to automakers rather than trying to launch its own services to consumers. Founded in 2017, Wayve is known for its innovative approach to autonomous driving, focusing on embodied intelligence and end-to-end deep learning. This approach allows its AI model to learn and adapt to new environments more effectively than traditional methods, which typically require a lot of pre-programming for specific scenarios. Last year, Uber Technologies, Inc. (UBER.US) made a strategic investment in Wayve. Other investors in Wayve include NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US), Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US), and SoftBank Group. In China, companies such as Didi, WeRide (WRD.US), Baidu Inc Sponsored ADR Class A (BIDU.US), XPeng, Inc. ADR Sponsored Class A (XPEV.US), and Pony.ai (PONY.US) are also actively expanding their autonomous driving programs.
