On March 10th, data from the Ministry of Transport showed that as of February 2025, a total of 54 cities in 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had opened and operated 326 urban rail transit lines, with a total operating mileage of 10,975.8 kilometers. The actual number of trains in operation was 3.3 million, carrying a total of 2.4 billion passengers, with 1.44 billion passengers departing from stations. In February, the number of passengers carried decreased by 80 million compared to the previous month, a decrease of 3.2%, but increased by 350 million compared to the same period last year, an increase of 17.1%. The average passenger transport intensity of the total operating mileage in the country in February was 0.782 million passengers per kilometer per day, an increase of 7.0% compared to the previous month and an increase of 12.8% compared to the same period last year. Among them, 43 cities have opened and operated 268 subway and light rail lines, with a total operating mileage of 9,507.8 kilometers, carrying 2.32 billion passengers, with 1.38 billion passengers departing from stations. 16 cities have opened and operated 25 monorail, maglev, and urban rapid rail transit lines, with a total operating mileage of 970.7 kilometers, carrying 74.69 million passengers, with 50.13 million passengers departing from stations. 18 cities have opened and operated 33 tram and automated guided rail lines, with a total operating mileage of 497.3 kilometers, carrying 9.01 million passengers, with 8.55 million passengers departing from stations. This month, there was an additional operating mileage of 28.5 kilometers, with one new operating line, the first phase of Taiyuan Metro Line 1.
