Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) saw a month-on-month decline of 51.5% in wholesale sales in China in February, far behind its competitors.

According to data from the China Passenger Car Association, due to intense market competition continuing to squeeze Tesla, Inc.'s market share in the Chinese electric car market, Tesla, Inc. sold 30,688 cars in China in February, a month-on-month decrease of 51.5% and a year-on-year decrease of 49.2%. Its performance also lags far behind its major Chinese competitors, with BYD Company Limited reporting a 161.4% increase in passenger car sales last month, reaching 318,233 vehicles. Other domestic electric car competitors, including NIO Inc. Sponsored ADR Class A cars (NIO.US) and XPeng, Inc. ADR Sponsored Class A cars (XPEV.US), also reported year-on-year sales growth. NIO Inc. Sponsored ADR Class A cars delivered 13,192 vehicles in February, a 62.2% increase from the previous year, while XPeng, Inc. ADR Sponsored Class A delivered 30,453 smart electric vehicles in February, a 570% increase from the previous year.
