Japanese-owned ORIX continues to increase its holdings in CHINA WATER (00855). According to the latest disclosure from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, on February 28, ORIX increased its holdings by an additional 32.746 million shares at an average price of HK$5.7856 per share, involving HK$189 million. On February 26, ORIX also increased its holdings by 8.636 million shares at an average price of HK$5.5045 per share, involving HK$47.5369 million. With consecutive increases, ORIX's stake in CHINA WATER has now risen to 22.28%, with a total of 364 million shares.
It is understood that ORIX is a leading comprehensive financial services group in Japan, with business operations covering finance, investment, asset management, infrastructure, energy, environmental protection, and other fields. By the end of 2024, ORIX managed external assets worth nearly $508.7 billion. As early as 2011, ORIX first invested in CHINA WATER and has since increased its holdings in CHINA WATER several times, never reducing its holdings in the secondary market.
Market observers believe that as a long-term holder of CHINA WATER, ORIX has a very good understanding of CHINA WATER's business operations and financial condition. The increase in holdings reflects ORIX's increased confidence in CHINA WATER and recognizes its excellent fundamentals and future growth potential.
Since February, market funds have begun to flock to CHINA WATER, and the stock price has seen a strong rise. From February 4 to February 28, during 19 trading days, CHINA WATER rose in total for 18 trading days, with only one trading day experiencing a 1.37% pullback. The cumulative increase during this period exceeded 38%.
