Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR (TSMC.US) CEO Wei Zhejia plans to meet with US President Trump on Monday to discuss the investment plans of this Taiwanese semiconductor giant in the US. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR stated that the meeting will involve the company's long-term development plan for semiconductor manufacturing in the US.
According to foreign media reports, sources revealed that the Trump administration is expected to announce a major plan later on Monday. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR plans to invest $100 billion in the US over the next four years to build semiconductor manufacturing plants, strengthening its production capacity in the US. This massive investment will be used to construct state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing facilities, supporting the semiconductor industry revival strategy long promoted by the US government.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR first announced in 2020 its plans to establish a factory in Arizona, with a commitment to invest $12 billion to build a chip factory. Subsequently, the company quickly expanded its presence in the US and added two more factories at the same location, bringing the total investment to $65 billion. By the end of 2023, the company's first factory in Arizona will officially begin mass production. In April of this year, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR announced an additional $25 billion to its original investment plan, bringing the total investment to $65 billion, and pledged to add a third chip factory by 2030.
Additionally, in November last year, under the push of the then US President Biden's administration, the US Department of Commerce finally approved a $6.6 billion government subsidy to support Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR's US subsidiary's semiconductor production project in Arizona. This upcoming further expansion of investment by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sponsored ADR will undoubtedly accelerate the development of domestic chip manufacturing in the US and strengthen its key position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
