Recently, there have been rumors in the market that several domestic first-tier solar module companies have collectively raised their prices, with the rumored price increase being around a few cents per watt. With several first-tier solar module companies such as LONGi Green Energy Technology, Trina Solar Co., Ltd., and JA Solar Technology confirming the price increase rumors today, it is evident that solar module prices are indeed on the rise. According to a report from First Financial News, on February 25, a person close to the marketing department of LONGi Green Energy Technology (601012.SH) stated that due to the impact of electricity reform policies, the company's distributed ex-factory price increased by 0.03 yuan/watt to 0.05 yuan/watt last week, while centralized prices have not changed. Trina Solar Co., Ltd. (688599.SH) also confirmed the price increase rumors. "Prices have indeed increased a bit," said a company spokesperson, indicating that the prices for components sold through channels have increased by 0.02 yuan/watt to 0.03 yuan/watt. Currently, price increases have been confirmed in the domestic and European markets, but the situation in the US market is unclear. Regarding the reasons for the price increase in the domestic and European markets, Trina Solar Co., Ltd. responded today, "The industry's self-discipline is gradually playing a role, and market adjustment mechanisms are gradually returning. In Europe, inventory clearance has been basically completed." In addition, a spokesperson from JA Solar Technology (002459.SZ) stated today that market demand has picked up after the Spring Festival, and the company's order intake has been very good. "In addition to the support of market demand, the increase in the price of solar modules is also due to the pressure of cost increase from upstream raw materials, which necessitates the transmission of cost pressure through component price increases." In summary, the main reasons for the increase in solar module prices are as follows: - Market demand picking up: Market demand has picked up after the Spring Festival, with companies receiving good order intake, driving prices up. - Industry self-discipline: Self-discipline actions in the domestic solar industry have kept the operating rates at various stages relatively low, easing supply-demand contradictions and pushing prices up. - Cost pressure: Upstream raw materials are still in a loss-making state, necessitating component price increases to transmit cost pressures. - Policy impact: The introduction of the new energy electricity price policy has driven a "rush to install" in the solar industry, further accelerating the increase in module prices. Additionally, the cost of solar modules is gradually rising. In October 2024, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association announced the lowest cost price for solar modules, which gradually increased over the following months. By early 2025, the scale of solar module tenders exceeded 30GW, with winning bid prices significantly increasing, indicating a trend of price recovery.
