Professor Sun Dong, Director of the Innovation and Technology Bureau of Hong Kong, stated today (February 25) that artificial intelligence is leading a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. The Hong Kong government has actively responded by establishing an artificial intelligence supercomputing center, launching a HK$30 billion artificial intelligence funding scheme, and currently there are over 800 artificial intelligence companies gathered in the Science Park and Cyberport in Hong Kong.
Professor Sun Dong mentioned that in the first half of 2024, the InnoHK Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center had developed the first version of a large language model called "HKGAI" (Generative Artificial Intelligence Document Assistant Application), which has been in use and training within government departments since last year. To date, more than 70 government departments have started using and assisting in the training of the model.
At the beginning of this year, the launch of DeepSeek was a big hit and shocked the world. The research and development team quickly combined the perfect base model architecture of DeepSeek with the outstanding data processing capabilities of the HKGAI model, resulting in the strong launch of HKGAI V1 today. He hopes that the large language model developed in Hong Kong can be based in Hong Kong and quickly provided to the industry and the public for use, serving the masses. At the same time, he also hopes that in the future, this platform can be used to serve millions of overseas Chinese.
