Recently, Xiaomi's second car model, YU7, appeared in the 392nd batch of the "Announcement of Road Motor Vehicle Production Enterprises and Products" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Lei Jun, Chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, also posted a video and photos of Xiaomi YU7 yesterday. According to him, Xiaomi YU7 is expected to be launched in June or July, and the new car is currently in the final testing stage. The new Xiaomi YU7 model is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version, using lithium iron phosphate batteries, with a peak power of 130kW/235kW for the driving motor. It will offer two versions with different battery capacities, 96.3 kWh and 101.7 kWh, with a maximum range of up to 820 kilometers and a top speed of 240 km/h. The new model is equipped with a dual-motor system provided by Suzhou Huichuan United Power System Co., Ltd., with power of 130/235kW, and uses lithium iron phosphate batteries from Fudi Battery Co., Ltd. After the high-performance version with 220/288kW power was declared last year, Xiaomi YU7 declared a single-motor version with 235kW power in January this year. This single-motor version also uses a motor provided by Suzhou Huichuan United Power System Co., Ltd. and lithium iron phosphate batteries from Taizhou Fudi Battery Co., Ltd. According to the test videos of Xiaomi YU7 released online earlier, the blue lights on the tail lights of YU7 are suspected to be indicator lights for activating intelligent driving. Currently, various domestic car brands such as Ideal, BYD, and Xiaopeng have adopted the "blue light" as an indicator for activating intelligent driving. So far, according to the declaration information, Xiaomi YU7 has three versions, all of which are produced in Beijing Yizhuang Economic Development Zone. Some viewpoints suggest that Xiaomi YU7 is highly likely to continue the model strategy of Xiaomi SU7 and launch three versions: standard, Pro, and Max. Some industry insiders point out, "Previously, Xiaomi SU7 positioned itself against Tesla Model 3 in the market, with overall pricing being 2 to 3 thousand yuan lower than Tesla Model 3. Now, the newly refreshed Tesla Model Y has been released, with a price range of 260,000 to 300,000 yuan, which is likely to be a significant reference for the pricing of Xiaomi YU7." After the launch of Xiaomi YU7, in addition to facing direct competition from the updated Tesla Model Y, Xiaopeng G7, which was declared alongside Xiaomi YU7, is expected to be positioned as a mid-size SUV, using a pure visual intelligent driving solution. The founder, He Xiaopeng, said the goal is to become the "most competitive SUV in the 250,000 yuan level." Both Xiaomi YU7 and Xiaopeng G7 are expected to be launched in the second and third quarters of 2025, forming a competitive relationship. In addition, the self-owned brands Jike 7X, Zhijie R7, and Weilta 07, which have already been launched, have similar positioning to Xiaomi YU7, all of which are mid- to high-end pure electric SUVs. Liu Jiansen, Chief Analyst of Canalys, told the "Science and Technology Board Daily" that, "The SUV market, especially in the price range of 250,000 to 350,000 yuan, is highly competitive, and the launch of Xiaomi YU7 will make the competition in this market even more intense."
