Jinjiang International Group announced on Wednesday that Warner Bros. has agreed to collaborate with them to develop the "Harry Potter Studio Tour" in Shanghai, a large-scale theme project. Jinjiang International Group has signed a joint venture framework agreement with Warner Bros. Studio Tour (Shanghai) - "The Birth of Harry Potter," also known as "Harry Potter Studio Tour (Shanghai)." According to reports, Jinjiang International posted on social media that the planned Harry Potter theme park will allow Chinese visitors to delve into the behind-the-scenes of the Harry Potter film series and recreate some classic scenes from the international big screen. The large-scale theme project is expected to cover an area of over 53,000 square meters. This project will be part of a large-scale renovation of a Shanghai theme park operated by Jinjiang International, and is expected to open in 2027. The project still needs approval from relevant regulatory authorities. This will be Warner Bros.'s third "Harry Potter Studio Tour" project globally after London and Tokyo, with these large-scale projects being warmly welcomed by Harry Potter fans worldwide, attracting a large number of visitors and becoming an important part of global film-themed parks. Although foreign films have a relatively small share in China's total box office due to strict quotas and the rise of domestic content, the Hollywood Harry Potter film series has long been very popular in the Chinese market. Universal Studios in Beijing has a "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" themed area with specific Harry Potter-themed attractions and popular spots. Last year, all eight Harry Potter films were re-released in Chinese cinemas. In October 2024, the Harry Potter film series was re-released in Chinese cinemas, attracting a large number of Chinese fans. Statistics show that "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" earned over 73 million yuan in the domestic box office in 16 days, while "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" earned over 41 million yuan in 8 days.
