On Monday, Intel Corporation (INTC.US) closed up 3.51%, outperforming the overall US stock market and technology sector, attributed to reviewers praising its latest processor Intel Corporation Cool Core Ultra 9 275HX. It was reported that the computer hardware benchmark testing software PassMark recently updated its rankings, with Intel Corporation Cool Core Ultra 9 275HX claiming the top spot, surpassing AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, making it the most powerful laptop processor in terms of overall performance. Intel Corporation's fourth-quarter performance for 2024, announced last month, exceeded market expectations, indicating positive results from the major restructuring plan implemented in 2024. The financial report showed that Intel Corporation's Q4 revenue decreased by 7% year-on-year to $14.26 billion, marking the third consecutive quarter of decline, but better than the market's expected $13.81 billion; net loss was $130 million, compared to a net profit of $2.67 billion in the same period last year; adjusted earnings per share was $0.13, higher than the expected $0.12.
Despite the Q4 revenue and profit beating expectations, Intel Corporation's performance guidance suggests that the company's future path is still challenging. Intel Corporation expects Q1 2025 revenue to be between $11.7 billion and $12.7 billion, with the midpoint forecast below the market's expectation of $12.85 billion; projected profit, excluding certain items, will break even, while the market expects earnings per share to be $0.08.
The weak performance guidance from Intel Corporation has led Wall Street analysts to remain cautious, waiting for further signs of recovery. Intel Corporation will host the Foundry Direct Connect event on April 29 in San Jose, California, to share details on its foundry strategy, process technologies, and advanced packaging and testing capabilities.
Meanwhile, investors and analysts are eagerly awaiting the appointment of a new CEO for Intel Corporation. This new CEO will determine the company's future, facing various options including divestiture. Reports have suggested that competitors are considering acquiring part or all of Intel Corporation's ownership.
