However, according to the latest reports, executives at Walt Disney Company are starting to worry about the rising fees for theme parks and resorts. The report points out that in the past few years, the growth of visitors to Walt Disney Company parks has slowed down, and regular visitors have been cancelling their trips.
It is reported that in October last year, the daily ticket for California's Walt Disney Company park surpassed $200 for the first time, and the price of fast passes has increased from being free five years ago to $449 currently. The report quoted pricing officials at Walt Disney Company park as saying that Walt Disney Company is obsessed with raising prices, to the point where middle-class visitors can no longer afford it.
Some people have expressed concerns that the company is increasingly discussing whether it has lost its appeal to families. In addition, Walt Disney Company's own surveys are starting to show a sharp decrease in the number of visitors planning to visit Walt Disney Company parks in Florida.
Data shows that in the 2024 fiscal year ending September, the number of visitors to Walt Disney Company parks in the US increased by 1%, lower than the 6% increase in the 2023 fiscal year; in the previous two fiscal years, the per capita spending at Walt Disney Company parks in the US increased by 3% annually, while in the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year ending December, this increase reached 4%.
The revenue of Walt Disney Company's theme park division was flat year-on-year in the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year, at $3.1 billion. The number of visitors to Walt Disney Company parks in the US decreased by 2%, and operating profit decreased by 5%, partly due to the closure of Walt Disney Company World in Florida due to hurricanes.
