Tesla, Inc. announced on its official website that it has raised the price of the Model X in the US market by $5,000. Specifically, the price of the Model X all-wheel drive version has been increased from $79,990 to $84,990, and the price of the Model X Plaid has been increased from $94,990 to $99,990.
This is not the first time that Tesla, Inc. has raised prices in the North American market. Last December, Tesla, Inc. raised the price of the Model S in the US by $5,000, and from February 1, it raised prices for all its models in Canada.
Tesla, Inc. did not disclose the reason for the price increase. However, the company is working on reducing car production costs, and in January it stated that its average material and labor costs for manufacturing its cars reached their lowest point in the fourth quarter of last year due to a sharp drop in raw material prices.
In contrast, Tesla, Inc. has adopted a completely different strategy in the Chinese market. It is reported that on February 5th, Tesla, Inc. introduced a strong discount package for its core model, the Model 3, in the Chinese market, including a limited-time insurance subsidy of 8,000 yuan, a 5-year zero-interest policy, and special charging benefits. This is another round of new incentives introduced by Tesla, Inc. since the end of 2024.
It is worth noting that Tesla, Inc.'s performance in the European market is not optimistic. In January of this year, Tesla, Inc.'s new car registrations in Germany plummeted by 59%, reaching only 1,277 vehicles, the lowest monthly sales record since July 2021. Analysts believe that Elon Musk's public support for the extreme right-wing party "Alternative for Germany" in Germany may have affected market demand. Additionally, in January, Tesla, Inc.'s sales in France plummeted by 63%, and dropped by 12% in the UK.
