TechInsights posted an article stating that in Q4 of 2024, the global shipment of laptops increased by 6% year-on-year, reaching 54.5 million units. As the market accelerates towards the end-of-service date for Windows 10 in late 2025, commercial demand remains strong. Although consumer demand is relatively flat, there was some growth during the holiday season, with retailers and suppliers offering large discounts to attract price-conscious consumers. Government subsidies provided by China have had the expected effect in stimulating consumer demand.
In Q4 of 2024, Lenovo's laptop shipment volume maintained its leading position in the market, with a 7% year-on-year increase. HP Inc. (HPQ.US) still holds the second position with a 21% market share. Dell Technologies, Inc. Class C continues to struggle, with a 1% year-on-year decline, marking its third consecutive quarter of decline. The release of the MacBook Pro with the M4 chip by Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) at the end of October drove shipment volume to 6 million units, with only a 1% year-on-year increase. ASUS led Acer with 4.1 million units in laptop shipment volume in that quarter.
