The Chinese New Year holiday is approaching, and it is expected that there will be a large number of visitors to Macau. In order to better handle the increase in tourists, the Macau government has made arrangements for the Lunar New Year period across departments. The Director of the Macau Public Security Police Planning Division, Li Dehui, predicts that during the 8-day Chinese New Year holiday in mainland China (from January 28th to February 4th), there will be an average of 630,000 to 670,000 inbound and outbound travelers in Macau per day, an increase of 3% compared to last year. It is estimated that there will be peak inbound and outbound traffic on the fourth and fifth day of the Lunar New Year (February 1st and 2nd).
Li Dehui mentioned that the "one visit, multiple entries" policy has accumulated a total of 18,000 entries and exits as of yesterday, with an average of nearly 900 entries and exits per day. The "one visit per week" policy has accumulated 73,000 entries and exits, with an average of 3,500 entries and exits per day.
The Acting Director of the Macau Customs Checkpoint, Yu Zhanqiang, predicts that the peak outbound traffic at the Macau Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge will occur on the twenty-ninth day of the lunar month (January 28th), and the peak inbound traffic will occur on the third day of the Lunar New Year (January 31st), with an estimated peak hourly flow of 500 vehicles.
The Director of the Public Relations Department of the Macau Tourism Office, Lan Tonghao, stated that as of last Thursday (January 16th), the hotel booking rate in Macau was nearly 80%, and it is believed that the booking rate will increase further as the holiday approaches. The average room rate per night is approximately 1000 to 2000 Macau dollars.
