During this year's Spring Festival travel rush, it is predicted that the volume of people moving within mainland China will reach a new high, with over 1.3 billion people expected to travel across regions in the first week. According to data from Amap Hitch, demand for carpooling services nationwide increased by nearly 80% in the first week of the Spring Festival travel rush, with the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions having the highest demand. The top three regions with the highest growth rates include Hainan, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and Sichuan-Chongqing.
It is worth noting that the number of self-driving car owners willing to share their empty seats on Amap has also increased by nearly 70%.
Industry experts predict that traditional cross-regional transportation methods such as trains and planes will experience peak passenger flows in the week leading up to the Spring Festival, while diversified travel demands represented by carpooling services will also experience a new peak.
