With the inauguration ceremony of the US incoming President Trump approaching, Bitcoin has reached a historic high.
Data shows that Bitcoin surged over 5% on Monday, surpassing $109,000. Before the rise of this digital currency, Trump and his wife Melania had both launched their own Meme coins, "TrumpCoin" and "MelaniaCoin".
These Meme coins briefly disrupted the digital asset market, weakening the trading volume of Bitcoin and other smaller tokens, and drawing criticism from industry executives.
However, afterwards, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple quickly rebounded as traders counted down to Trump's return to the White House. There were reports that Trump is considering an executive order to designate this asset class as a "national priority".
Ben El Baz, Managing Director of HashKey Global, stated that the Meme coins launched by Trump and his team further accelerated the momentum of Bitcoin, as retail traders hope the Republican Party will "prioritize and reaffirm their commitment to the cryptocurrency industry".
