On January 17, the National Bureau of Statistics released the value-added of large-scale industrial enterprises in December. In December, the value-added of large-scale industrial enterprises increased by 6.2% year-on-year (the growth rate of value-added is the actual growth rate deducted from price factors). Looking at a month-on-month comparison, the value-added of large-scale industrial enterprises in December increased by 0.64% compared to the previous month. In 2024, the value-added of large-scale industrial enterprises increased by 5.8% compared to the previous year.

By industry category, in December, the value-added of mining industry increased by 2.4% year-on-year, manufacturing industry increased by 7.4%, and electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industry increased by 1.1%.
By economic type, in December, value-added of state-owned enterprises increased by 3.1% year-on-year; value-added of shareholding enterprises increased by 6.5%, value-added of foreign-invested enterprises increased by 5.6%; value-added of private enterprises increased by 5.7%.
By industry sector, in December, out of 41 major industry sectors, 34 sectors saw an increase in value-added year-on-year. For example, coal mining and washing industry increased by 2.7%, petroleum and natural gas extraction industry increased by 2.2%, food processing industry increased by 6.1%, beverage manufacturing industry increased by 3.6%, textile industry increased by 4.6%, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry increased by 9.4%, non-metallic mineral products industry decreased by 0.1%, ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 8.7%, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 9.7%, general equipment manufacturing industry increased by 7.7%, special equipment manufacturing industry increased by 4.6%, automobile manufacturing industry increased by 17.7%, railway, shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing industry increased by 10.6%, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 9.2%, computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry increased by 8.7%, and electricity, heat production and supply industry increased by 1.2%.
By product, in December, out of 619 large-scale industrial products, 396 products saw an increase in production year-on-year. For example, steel production was 119.10 million tons, a 7.1% increase; cement production was 155.12 million tons, a 2.0% decrease; ten non-ferrous metals production was 6.90 million tons, a 3.2% increase; ethylene production was 3.12 million tons, a 3.8% increase; automobile production was 349.9 thousand vehicles, a 15.2% increase, including 164.7 thousand new energy vehicles, a 43.2% increase; electricity generation was 846.2 billion kilowatt-hours, a 0.6% increase; crude oil processing was 59.35 million tons, a 0.6% increase.
In December, the sales rate of large-scale industrial products was 98.7%, up by 0.1 percentage points year-on-year; the export delivery value of large-scale industrial enterprises was 1.4394 trillion yuan, a nominal increase of 8.8% year-on-year.
