The Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong has announced an expansion of the airport city development blueprint, and has launched a new development brand called "Skytopia". The new development projects include building an art industry ecosystem, constructing the second phase of the Asia Expo, setting up a yacht harbor and supporting facilities, opening an air-freight fresh market, and increasing public activity spaces, with each project expected to be completed between 2026 and 2031. Chairman Lin TENFU stated in his address that the three runway system at the airport is fully operational, increasing the airport capacity by 50%, allowing it to serve 1.2 billion passengers annually and handle 10 million tons of cargo. Hong Kong will continue to be one of the world's largest and most important aviation hubs. Lin TENFU pointed out that the airport city vision and development plan are based on a large passenger base, and through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the airport city is connected to the nearly 90 million population Greater Bay Area. The Civil Aviation Department hopes that the airport city will not only be a gateway for passengers entering Hong Kong, but also develop into a landmark destination and a leading global destination, attracting travelers from Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, Asia, and around the world.
