According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in the period from January to December 2024, the national shipbuilding completion volume was 48.18 million deadweight tons, an increase of 13.8% year-on-year; the new order volume was 113.05 million deadweight tons, an increase of 58.8% year-on-year; by the end of December, the order volume on hand was 208.72 million deadweight tons, an increase of 49.7% year-on-year. From January to December, China's shipbuilding completion volume, new order volume, and order volume on hand accounted for 55.7%, 74.1%, and 63.1% of the global total in terms of deadweight tons, and 50.3%, 68.2%, and 55.4% in terms of gross tonnage, respectively.
