Macau: Preliminary statistics show that the foreign exchange reserves as of the end of December 2024 were $29.39 billion.
As of the end of December 2024, the total amount of foreign exchange reserve assets in the Macao Special Administrative Region is preliminarily estimated to be MOP 235 billion (USD 29.39 billion), compared to the revised total of MOP 232.6 billion (USD 29.01 billion) in November 2024, an increase of 1.0%.
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (15th) that the total amount of foreign exchange reserves of the Macao Special Administrative Region at the end of December 2024 was preliminarily estimated at 235 billion Macao patacas (29.39 billion US dollars), an increase of 1.0% from the revised total of 232.6 billion Macao patacas (29.01 billion US dollars) in November 2024. The total amount of foreign exchange reserves at the end of December 2024 is approximately equivalent to 11 times the Macao circulating currency at the end of November 2024 or 90.9% of the Macao portion in the broad money supply (M2) in Macao.
The trade-weighted Macao exchange rate index in December 2024 was 106.6, an increase of 1.01 points from the previous month and 3.24 points from the same period last year, indicating an overall appreciation of the Macao pataca against the currencies of Macao's main trading partners.
