On January 15, the Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Rosanna Law, responded in writing to a query from a member of the Legislative Council, stating that the number of visitors to Hong Kong last year approached nearly 45 million, which met expectations. After the resumption of the "One Visa, Multiple Entry" policy, the number of visitors from the mainland in December exceeded 3.1 million, with an average of over 100,000 visitors per day, a 17% increase from November. She stated that they will make good use of various measures introduced by the central government to actively promote the comprehensive development of Hong Kong's tourism industry, and will continue to communicate with relevant mainland departments to allow more mainland visitors to visit Hong Kong more flexibly and conveniently. Regarding the plan to apply to UNESCO for the title of "World Capital of Gastronomy" for Hong Kong, Rosanna Law mentioned that there are currently over 50 cities worldwide that have received this title, including six cities in China such as Chengdu, Shunde, Macao, Yangzhou, Huai'an, and Chaozhou. Other cities include Tsubame in Japan, Tucson in the United States, Jeonju in South Korea, and Lyon in France. The Hong Kong government will review the experiences of the selected cities and research the relevant work before making a decision.
