Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Li Chunlin:
Ladies and gentlemen from the media, good afternoon! First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all sectors of society and friends from the media for their long-term concern and support for the Spring Festival travel rush work. This year's Spring Festival travel rush will begin on January 14, which is next Tuesday, and will last for 40 days until February 22. Based on comprehensive analysis, this year's Spring Festival travel rush presents the following characteristics.
In terms of overall scale, according to the estimates of transportation and other departments, the total cross-regional population movement is expected to reach 9 billion people, with rail transportation and civil aviation passenger volume expected to exceed 510 million and 90 million respectively, both reaching historical highs. In terms of travel structure, self-driving travel will maintain a dominant position, estimated to reach 7.2 billion trips, accounting for about 80% of the total cross-regional population movement, with the traffic on highways potentially reaching historical highs. In terms of time and space distribution, this year's Spring Festival is earlier than previous years, which will lead to the superimposition of four types of passenger flows around the period of the Spring Festival, including students, migrant workers, family visits, and tourism, showing a high concentration. The metropolitan areas of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Chengdu-Chongqing are still the main focus areas for passenger flows. Considering that transportation will be operating at full capacity during the Spring Festival travel rush, there are significant pressures in maintaining smooth traffic flow, ensuring safety, preventing severe weather conditions, and coordinating passenger and freight transportation.
The Party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the Spring Festival travel rush work. The Central Economic Work Conference has made systematic arrangements for ensuring the livelihoods and stability of the people at the end of the year and the beginning of the year, and the "Notice on the Two Festivals" issued by the Central Office and the State Office have made specific requirements for the Spring Festival travel rush work. The National Development and Reform Commission has fully exerted its role in comprehensive coordination and balance, cooperating closely with the 19 members of the Spring Festival Coordination Mechanism to organize and carry out all aspects of the Spring Festival work carefully. Before New Year's Day, a national Spring Festival television and phone conference was jointly held with relevant departments and units. Recently, the "Opinions on Doing Well in the 2025 Spring Festival Transport Work" were issued, providing overall arrangements and mobilization deploys for the Spring Festival work. This year's Spring Festival will focus on the following four key areas of work.
First, meeting the needs of passenger and freight transportation to the fullest extent. Departments of transportation, railway, civil aviation, and others will enhance their understanding of passenger flow demands, develop transport plans rationally, fully tap transport potential, harmonize and allocate transport capacity, strengthen the deployment and organization of transport capacity in key time periods, regions, and routes, and ensure the transportation guarantee for essential energy resources (such as coal), daily necessities (like food), holiday goods, and spring agricultural preparations.
Second, prioritizing safety as the key aspect of Spring Festival travel rush work. All departments will strictly implement the system of safety production and fire safety, strengthen risk prevention, focus on key areas and vulnerable points. Departments of transportation, railway, civil aviation, and others will intensify the screening and rectification of hidden risks in facilities and equipment and conduct safety inspections targeted at identified issues. Law enforcement departments will crack down on traffic violations, particularly during the winter season, and strictly penalize illegal actions.
Third, reinforcing the guarantee of coal, electricity, oil, and gas supply. The National Development and Reform Commission will collaborate with relevant entities to strengthen the comprehensive coordination of coal, electricity, oil, and gas supplies, and enhance the comprehensive energy guarantee of important routes and critical hubs. The Ministry of Communications will ensure weather-related communications facilities and emergency repair work. The meteorological department will enhance the forecast and warning of hazardous weather. The public security, transportation, and other departments will provide transport service guarantees under adverse weather conditions.
Fourth, providing Spring Festival travel services with care and dedication. Departments of transportation, public security, and others will enhance the smooth flow of roads and traffic, strengthen the service guarantee for self-driving travel, efforts will be made to improve the travel environment for passengers, continually optimize ticketing services, and enhance care for key demographic groups. Health departments will guide disinfection of transport environments and provide emergency medical rescue services in case of sudden incidents. Unions, Communist Youth League, and other organizations will actively offer warm services to migrant workers returning home or traveling passengers.
The Spring Festival travel rush is closely related to economic and social development as well as the vital interests of the people. We will spare no effort to do a good job in all aspects of the Spring Festival travel rush, effectively ensuring a smooth, orderly and safe travel and ensuring the people's safe, convenient and warm travel. As the Spring Festival approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere greetings to the vast number of travelers and colleagues working on the front line of the Spring Festival travel rush, and welcome friends from all walks of life, especially the media, to provide valuable opinions and suggestions on the Spring Festival travel rush work.Thank you everyone!
Shou Xiaoli:
Thank you Vice Director Li Chunlin for the introduction. Now we will move on to the question and answer session. Before asking your question, please report the news organization you are from. Please raise your hand to ask questions.
China Daily Reporter:
Tickets for the 2025 Spring Festival travel season have already begun selling. What new changes can we expect in railway transportation for this year's Spring Festival travel rush? What preparations has the railway department made to handle the expected high passenger flow during the upcoming Spring Festival travel peak? Thank you.
Zhu Wenzhong, Head of China Railway Group Passenger Transport Department:
Thank you for the question from the reporter and for your interest in railway work. I will answer this question. This year's Spring Festival travel rush is expected to see a stable increase in overall railway passenger flow, with a national railway passenger volume expected to exceed 510 million, averaging 12.75 million passengers per day, an increase of 5.5% compared to the 2024 Spring Festival.
We are coordinating passenger and freight transportation to meet supply needs and making full preparations to ensure the safe and orderly travel of the masses and the smooth operation of the national economy.
First, we are fully tapping into transportation potential to maximize passenger transportation capacity. In 2024, the national railway operating mileage exceeded 162,000 kilometers, with high-speed rails exceeding 48,000 kilometers, further enhancing the accessibility and coverage of the modern railway network. We are extensively exploring route and equipment resources, maximizing transportation capacity, focusing on increasing transportation capacity in directions with concentrated Spring Festival passenger flow, coordinating arrangements for non-concentrated direction trains, maintaining the scale of conventional passenger train services, running public service "slow trains" and "rural revitalization" passenger trains to facilitate the public's travel. We are arranging over 14,000 passenger trains daily, increasing seating capacity by around 500,000 seats per day, with a 4% increase in passenger capacity, fully ensuring the travel needs of the masses.
Second, we are continually improving service measures based on passenger travel needs. We are focusing on six areas: optimizing the 12306 system's functions, scientifically formulating ticketing strategies, optimizing ticket information pre-filling functions, increasing ticketing services for students and migrant workers, ensuring the smoothest passenger experience. We are strengthening passenger boarding and alighting organization, increasing security verification channels, setting up passenger flow lines and waiting areas, increasing the number of young volunteers and staff in key areas. We are enhancing key passenger services, optimizing service rules, improving response efficiency online and offline, setting up green channels, mother-infant waiting rooms, and station medical points at major passenger stations nationwide. The green channel facilitates the priority entry of key passengers such as those with urgent needs or physical limitations 15 minutes before departure. We are improving on-the-go services, enhancing charging facilities at stations for passenger use, diversifying food supply categories, expanding hot meal supply at stations, offering passengers a variety of dining options. We are increasing fare discounts, offering discount fares for some non-peak, non-concentrated direction passenger trains, with maximum discounts up to 80% for conventional trains and 70% for high-speed trains, providing passengers with more travel choices and affordability. We are improving transport transfer information services, using channels such as 12306 SMS, WeChat, etc. to provide precise information on subway, bus operating hours, and temporary adjustments to passengers, helping them better choose transportation transfers.
Third, we are coordinating freight transportation needs and increasing supply and smoothness. Leveraging the advantages of centralized and unified dispatching of national railways, we are scientifically using corridor capacities, optimizing loading structures, prioritizing coal transportation for power generation, ensuring the transportation of holiday living materials, food grains, fertilizers, etc., effectively reducing societal logistics costs, and providing support for the stable operation of the national economy and the production and living needs of the people.
Fourth, we are comprehensively ensuring safety to ensure the orderly progress of the Spring Festival travel rush. We are strengthening inspections and maintenance of key railway equipment facilities such as overhead lines, turnouts, locomotives, and communication signals in advance to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the main arteries of the railway. We are enhancing safety control and firefighting management in key areas to ensure the safety of railway traffic and transport order. We are actively preventing and responding to low-temperature rain, snow, and ice disasters, taking proactive preventive measures, actively avoiding safety risks. We are strictly implementing a 24-hour duty system for key positions, arranging emergency personnel, equipment, and backup supplies, storing diesel locomotives and rescue personnel on major railway lines and hubs, and strengthening emergency drills for various sudden scenarios to ensure preparedness for emergencies. Thank you.
CCTV, Central Broadcasting and Television Journalist:
You mentioned earlier that the number of passengers traveling during this year's Spring Festival may reach a new historical high, combined with an earlier and extended Spring Festival holiday. The passenger flow around the Spring Festival may be concentrated. What measures are being taken to relieve passenger flow pressure, ensure everyone's safe and smooth travel? Thank you.
Li Chunlin:
Thank you for the question from CCTV. The scale of the public's travel during this year's Spring Festival is further increasing, and for the first time, New Year's Eve has been included in the statutory holiday, extending the Spring Festival holiday to 8 days. The passenger flow around the Spring Festival is relatively high. National Development and Reform Commission, in conjunction with relevant departments, units, have already researched and planned early, comprehensively adopted multiple measures, and made the greatest effort to meet the public's travel needs. The main measures include increasing capacity, guiding travel, ensuring smooth operations, and optimizing services.
First, we are increasing capacity. Railways are expanding capacity through additional trains, overnight high-speed trains, and fully utilizing potential for increased transport. Meanwhile, they are guaranteeing the operation of public service "slow trains" in remote areas to ensure urban-to-urban passenger transport, as well as the travel needs of remote and underserved areas. It is estimated that during the Spring Festival travel season, over 14,000 passenger trains will be arranged daily, with a 4% increase in seating capacity compared to last year. Aviation will increase capacity supply at popular airports and routes, with approximately 18,500 flights planned per day, an 8.4% increase from last year. Roads play an essential role in guaranteeing transport, dynamically adjusting passenger routes. Waterways increase the deployment of key routes such as the Qiongzhou Strait.
Second, guiding travel. Education departments are closely monitoring key nodes and regions, guiding local universities to make orderly arrangements for students to leave and return to schools. Cultural and tourism departments are guiding tourists to plan their itineraries according to the weather and travel characteristics before and after the Spring Festival. Labor unions are actively negotiating with employers on work and leave times, organizing migrant workers to return home or to work in an orderly and safe manner. At the same time, they harness the role of internet travel service companies, promptly releasing real-time popular destination traffic trends.Strengthen passenger travel reminders and alerts by providing information on road conditions and other related information.:

Three, ensuring smooth transportation. Fully leverage the comparative advantages of different transportation modes and the efficiency of integrated transportation combinations, strengthen information sharing and service connection, carry out short-haul transfers and overnight passenger transport, and ensure the smooth "first and last mile". Make early judgments on congested routes and toll stations during the Spring Festival travel rush, formulate diversion plans, strengthen road network operation monitoring and information release, enhance peak period command and diversion, promptly dispatch and deal with severe congestion situations, and make every effort to ensure the smooth operation of the road network.
Four, optimize services. Implement the policy of waiving tolls for small passenger cars during major holidays, manage toll stations and service areas during peak periods, and enhance support for electric vehicle charging services. Improve waiting, security check, and transfer services at hub stations and other locations, provide services for key groups such as the elderly, sick, disabled, and pregnant women, facilitate smart travel for the elderly and online ticket purchases for migrant workers. Carry out volunteer services for the Spring Festival travel rush, mobilize young people to participate in the main battlefield of train stations and passenger stations.
Through the implementation of these measures, various departments and units of the Spring Festival travel coordination mechanism will create conditions to ensure the safe and smooth travel of passengers. Thank you!
Beijing Youth Daily Reporter:
You mentioned earlier that it is expected that self-driving will be the main mode of travel during this year's Spring Festival travel rush, which may create peak travel periods. What measures are in place to ensure road traffic safety during the Spring Festival travel rush? Additionally, do you have any suggestions for the public regarding self-driving travel? Thank you.
Director of the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, Wang Qiang:
Thank you for your question. I will answer this question. The Spring Festival travel rush is related to the reunion, safe and smooth travel of millions of families, and is the hope and aspiration of the people. To ensure the safe travel of the masses during the Spring Festival travel rush, the Ministry of Public Security has initiated relevant work and made a series of deployments, especially regarding traffic transportation for passengers and self-driving safety issues. The national public security traffic management departments will mobilize all police forces to ensure the 40-day Spring Festival traffic safety work. We have made several deployments in the following areas:
First, comprehensively identify and address safety hazards. Traffic safety has regular characteristics, and based on the analysis and judgment of the traffic safety situation during the Spring Festival travel rush in the past three years, combined with the characteristics of this year's Spring Festival travel rush, we have deployed a national public security production safety risk prevention action, strengthened the detection and elimination of outstanding safety hazards in winter, and cooperated with relevant departments to comprehensively identify and eliminate traffic safety hazards related to people, vehicles, roads, and enterprises. Unqualified vehicles and drivers are prohibited from participating in the Spring Festival travel rush, and efforts are made to eliminate hazards and risks at bridges, tunnels, sharp bends, steep slopes, exits and entrances of highways, and accident-prone sections, as much as possible. Control risks and eliminate hazards. In addition, for the Spring Festival high traffic period, such as from the Small Year to New Year's Eve, the peak of self-driving travel, the concentrated travel during the Spring Festival holiday, and the concentrated return after the holiday, we have also deployed targeted traffic management measures to ensure the safe and smooth travel of the public to the greatest extent.
Second, all police force escorting a safe Spring Festival travel. During the Spring Festival travel rush, public security traffic management departments across the country will set up police enforcement stations at busy traffic points, deploy police forces and emergency response equipment to ensure faster response and timely handling of incidents, and provide necessary assistance to the public. National traffic police and auxiliary police will faithfully perform their duties, focus on key time periods, key sections, and key vehicles, strictly investigate and deal with traffic violations that may cause accidents or disturb the traffic order, and make every effort to ensure road traffic safety and smooth flow, safeguarding the safe return home of the masses.
Third, provide maximum security travel service guarantee. As Vice Director Li Chunlin just mentioned, the cross-regional population flow during the Spring Festival travel rush is expected to reach a new high, with 80% of it passing through highways and national and provincial roads. The status of self-driving travel will be further highlighted. During the Spring Festival travel rush, especially during peak travel periods, professional and authoritative travel information is what the public urgently needs. Traffic police will fully rely on various media, micro-platforms, map navigation, and the 12123 "Cloud Command" reminders and other new methods and applications to timely release road information, traffic guidance, safety reminders, and other information. In case of traffic congestion or other safety issues, the public will be guided to cooperate in road guidance and command to prevent congestion.
Safety is the quickest way to travel during the Spring Festival travel rush, so we also remind the public that self-driving travel during the Spring Festival must be lawful, safe, and civilized. Drivers must ensure they are well-rested and in good health before driving, conduct safety checks and maintenance of their vehicles in advance, plan their travel time and routes in advance, take breaks during the journey to avoid fatigue driving, avoid speeding, overloading, aggressively overtaking or driving distracted, and refrain from drunk driving. When driving in adverse weather and low visibility conditions such as at night, drivers must remember to reduce speed, control distance, and keep their tail lights on to ensure visibility. Passengers should refuse black cabs, overloaded vehicles, illegal chartered cars, wear seat belts throughout the journey, and report any speeding, overloading, or fatigued driving promptly. Let's work together to maintain a good road traffic environment. Thank you, everyone.
Hong Kong Bauhinia Magazine Reporter:
Generally, the Spring Festival travel rush is a high-risk period for low temperature, rain, and snow weather. Could you please introduce the weather conditions since the beginning of winter and during the Spring Festival travel rush, as well as the focus of attention? Have relevant departments prepared response plans to ensure travel? Thank you.
Director of the Emergency Reduction and Public Services Department of the China Meteorological Administration, Wang Yawei:
Thank you for your question. Everyone is very concerned about the weather. Since the beginning of winter last year, that is, since December 1, 2024, the average national temperature has been slightly higher by 0.3C, but there have been significant temperature differences between cold and warm regions. There have been a total of four cold air processes nationwide. In terms of precipitation, since the beginning of winter last year, the average precipitation in the country is the third lowest in history for the same period, indicating a relatively low level of precipitation. However, localized heavy snowfall occurred in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Tibet, and other areas.
During the Spring Festival travel rush, it is expected that cold air activities affecting China will be relatively frequent, with overall weak intensity but significant temperature fluctuations. The eastern part of Inner Mongolia, the northwest, the southwest, and other areas may experience lower temperatures and more precipitation, while most of the country will experience temperatures close to normal or slightly higher, with less precipitation. Specifically, we should focus on the following weather aspects:
1. Cold and snowy weather in the northeast and northwest regions, which may affect traffic travel;
2. Rain and snow weather in the southwest and south China regions, which may lead to mountain landslides, mudslides, and other disasters, affecting traffic safety;
3. Strong winds in the eastern coastal areas, which may affect maritime traffic.
In response to these weather conditions, the meteorological department has formulated response plans, including strengthening monitoring and early warning, issuing warnings for rain, snow, and low-temperature weather, advising the public on precautionary measures, enhancing weather information dissemination and emergency response capabilities to ensure the ability to respond to sudden weather events during the Spring Festival travel rush and safeguard the safety of travelers.
At the same time, we also recommend that travelers pay attention to weather forecasts before traveling, plan their itinerary reasonably, keep warm and protect themselves from the cold, try to avoid long-distance driving in adverse weather conditions, ensuring travel safety. Thank you.
Source: Xinhua News AgencyIn February before the Spring Festival holiday, there will be two cold air processes. One is from the 14th to the 16th, when temperatures in most parts of the country may be lower, dropping by 4-6C, with some areas possibly dropping by more than 8C. The other is from the 24th to the 27th, when strong cold weather and snow may occur in most parts of the northeast, eastern Inner Mongolia, eastern northwest, and most parts of Xinjiang; the central and northern parts of the southwest may experience low temperatures and rain and snow. In the second half of the Spring Festival holiday, there will be a weak cold air process affecting most parts of the country, with the southern parts of the northwest, and eastern parts of the southwest possibly experiencing low temperatures and rain and snow. After the Spring Festival holiday, the weather will gradually warm up, but there will still be 2-3 more cold air processes. In addition, regions like North China, the Huang-Huai region, and the southwest may experience periods of dense fog leading to low visibility weather.?

!!What work has been done to ensure charging services along the highway? Thank you.
(Note: This translation may not be 100% accurate as it was performed by a computer program.)Provided mobile equipment support and backing. Two, increase capacity in key areas and peak periods. Before the holiday, in areas with concentrated passenger flow such as Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, 1724 pairs of long-distance passenger trains will be operated daily, an increase of 64 pairs compared to last year; during peak passenger flow periods, 329 pairs of overnight long-distance high-speed train services will be operated daily, an increase of 38 pairs compared to last year. After the holiday, in areas with concentrated passenger flow such as Chengdu-Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanchang, and Hunan, 871 pairs of long-distance passenger trains will be operated daily, an increase of 46 pairs compared to last year; during peak passenger flow periods, 170 pairs of overnight long-distance high-speed trains will be operated daily, an increase of 31 pairs compared to last year.
Three, improve the emergency response mechanism for sudden passenger flows. Based on big data from railway ticket sales and ticket waiting lists on 12306, analyzing passenger travel patterns, dynamically predicting passenger flow trends, and arranging capacity deployment in stages to achieve accurate matching of capacity and demand. To cope with sudden passenger flows, we reserve a certain number of passenger cars and crew members at major railway hubs to ensure they can be put into operation at any time to meet the travel needs of passengers. Thank you.
Shou Xiaoli:
Two more journalists raise their hands, two final questions.
Southern Daily, Southern Plus journalist:
Every year during the Spring Festival travel season, the transport of passengers and vehicles across the Qiongzhou Strait attracts a lot of attention. What specific measures have been taken to ensure the Spring Festival travel across the Qiongzhou Strait this year? Thank you.
Gao Bo:
Thank you for the question from the journalist. Hainan is a popular destination for travelers in China during the Spring Festival travel season. It is expected that during this year's Spring Festival travel season, the transportation of people and vehicles to and from the island will continue to increase. Before the holiday, the peak period is expected to occur from the 24th to the 28th of the twelfth lunar month, while after the holiday, the peak period for returning from the island is expected to occur from the 4th to the 10th of the first lunar month. The transportation volume during the peak period is expected to be 2-3 times higher than the daily average. We will coordinate and ensure the comprehensive transportation services to and from Hainan, especially focusing on the Qiongzhou Strait passenger and vehicle transport. We have mainly carried out three aspects of work:
In enhancing the capacity of cross-sea transport, through upgrading and improving the terminals, increasing crew members, and adding extra flights, we aim to enhance the departure capacity. It is expected that during the Spring Festival travel season, the daily average number of Qiongzhou Strait passenger and vehicle transport departures can reach over 270 flights, and during the peak period, it can reach over 340 flights, representing an overall capacity increase of around 20%. For the transportation of new energy vehicles across the sea, we have adopted a dedicated transport mode with specialized vessels. We have added 2 new energy-specific transport vessels, which can guarantee the transportation of 3500 new energy vehicles across the sea during peak periods.
In implementing the reservation and ticket-prior entry across the sea, during this year's Spring Festival travel season, the Qiongzhou Strait passenger and vehicle transport will implement a comprehensive reservation system. The pre-sale period for tickets to and from the island has been extended to 15 days and 30 days, and a standby ticket function has been added. At the same time, Hainan Province and Guangdong Province will strengthen the management of vehicle traffic around port terminals. We advise all travelers, especially those driving vehicles, to purchase tickets through official channels such as the "Qiongzhou Strait Ferry Steward," "Xuwen Port," and "Railway Ferry" WeChat official accounts in advance, and arrive at the port 2-3 hours before the scheduled departure time.
In strengthening the response to severe weather conditions, according to the forecast by the meteorological department, heavy fog is expected to occur in the Qiongzhou Strait during the Spring Festival travel season, affecting the operation of ship flights. We have established an emergency relief and evacuation mechanism with local governments, detailed specific measures, and if there are schedule adjustments, they will be announced to the public in advance. Passengers who have already purchased tickets are advised to pay close attention to the flight dynamics.
In addition, we have noticed that Hainan Province has recently introduced several measures and convenience guides to improve rental car services, and major rental car companies and e-commerce platforms have also issued public commitments on rental prices and services during the Spring Festival travel season, providing diversified choices for travelers to the island.
We hope that media friends can help promote and make more passengers and drivers aware of the new measures for the Qiongzhou Strait passenger and vehicle transport services during this year. Thank you!
Shou Xiaoli:
One final question.
Guangming Daily journalist:
Efficient operation of transportation cannot be separated from power supply. What measures have been taken by relevant departments to ensure energy and power supply during the Spring Festival travel season? Thank you.
Li Chunlin:
Thank you to the journalist from Guangming Daily for the question. As you mentioned, the modern transportation system heavily relies on energy and power supply. Especially during the peak period of the Spring Festival travel season, all modes of transportation operate at full capacity, making energy and power supply crucial. Additionally, the Spring Festival coincides with the winter season, and in cold and rainy weather conditions, any issues with energy and power supply can significantly impact the normal operation of transportation and lead to various problems. The National Development and Reform Commission has always attached great importance to ensuring energy supply and, together with the inter-ministerial coordination mechanism for guaranteeing coal, electricity, oil, and gas transport, has taken a series of measures to ensure energy supply during the peak winter period. These measures include ensuring the production and supply of energy, enhancing peak supply capacity, guaranteeing energy supply for civil usage, and preparing for preventive measures in low-temperature rainy and snowy weather conditions. Up to now, the national coal production and railway coal transport have been maintained at a high level, with an average of 27 days of coal available for use in national power plants. In consideration of coal-fired power as a backup power source, coal inventories in power plants in the three northeastern provinces have reached 31 days. Natural gas reserves are also high to meet our country's winter natural gas demand.
Specifically in the transportation sector, the National Development and Reform Commission, together with relevant departments, will strengthen the comprehensive energy supply guarantee for important routes and key hub stations under emergency situations. We will focus on ensuring power supply for railways, especially high-speed railways, and along highways, by enhancing the inspection of important equipment and lines along these routes and conducting timely ice and snow removal work. For example, in rainy and freezing weather conditions during winter, the area around the two lakes and a river often experiences contact wire icing, which affects the operation of high-speed railways. Therefore, it is essential to ensure reliable power supply for transportation. We will strengthen the operation and maintenance of charging facilities in service areas along highways, deploy mobile charging equipment reasonably, arrange emergency charging facilities systematically, and strive to meet the charging needs during peak hours.
I want to specifically mention the issue of ensuring charging for new energy vehicles. As mentioned earlier by Comrade Gao Bo from the Ministry of Transport, I would like to add to that. Since the beginning of this year, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration, together with relevant parties, have been coordinating the promotion of the development of charging infrastructure. The scale of charging infrastructure is continuously expanding, and the network is being improved rapidly. As for highways, as of the end of November last year, there were more than 5800 charging points on highways alone. We will continue to work on this to support and facilitate the use of new energy vehicles during the Spring Festival travel season.
Thank you!The service areas along the road have installed charging stations, with a coverage rate reaching 97%. In the future, we will continue to accelerate the construction of charging facilities in key areas such as along highways, old neighborhoods, and rural areas, continuously improve the operation service level, in order to better meet the charging needs of the people for travel.I will just say this much, thank you.
Shou Xiaoli:
Thank you Vice Director Li Chunlin, thank you to all the presenters, and thank you to all the journalist friends for participating. Today's press conference ends here, goodbye everyone.
