Samsung anticipates that the foldable phone will not sell well? Plans to increase Galaxy S shipments and reduce foldable screen phone production.
Samsung Electronics plans to increase the shipment volume of the Galaxy S series and reduce the sales target for foldable phones.
According to the latest report from South Korean news website ETNews, due to slow growth in sales of foldable consumer electronic devices and concerns that sales may not meet expectations affecting profits, South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics plans to increase the shipment volume of its Galaxy S series products by 2025, while adjusting the sales target for the foldable screen smartphone Galaxy Z series and focusing more on flagship smartphone models.
According to ETNews, Samsung Electronics is expected to slightly reduce the total shipment target for all Samsung Galaxy smartphones in 2025 to 230 million units, compared to the target of 250 million units in 2024. Samsung has not responded to media's latest request for comment.
The upcoming Galaxy S25 series, set to be released in the first half of 2025, is expected to have a target shipment volume of around 37.4 million units, a 7% increase from the current Galaxy S24 series (35 million units). Reports citing industry sources revealed that including the potential upcoming Galaxy S25 Slim model (3 million units), Samsung Electronics' latest total target shipment volume may be set at 40.4 million units.
Meanwhile, media reports indicate that Samsung Electronics plans to reduce the shipment volume of its foldable smartphones to around 5 million units, with a target of around 3 million units for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and 2 million units for the Z Fold 7, compared to the previous target shipment volume of approximately 8.2 million units for the Galaxy Z6 series.
Additionally, the South Korean tech giant also plans to introduce a new feature focused on personalized AI. Media reports further note that Samsung Electronics plans to expand its market share in the foldable smartphone sector by releasing a smartphone with dual foldable displays.
