Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) has released a software update as a remedy for the recall of nearly 690,000 cars by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States. The update is to address a warning light issue on the tire pressure monitoring system: due to malfunctions in the system, it was not warning drivers of low tire pressure.
The NHTSA revealed on December 20th that Tesla, Inc. is recalling 694,304 cars due to the tire pressure monitoring system malfunction, which was not warning drivers of low tire pressure. This recall includes some Model 3 (2017-2025 models), Model Y (2020-2025 models), and Cybertruck (2024 model).
As of December 13th, Tesla, Inc. has confirmed 76 warranty claims and one related field report. The electric car manufacturer stated that there have been no reported collisions, injuries, or fatalities related to this issue. Cars in production since November 15th will receive the software update mentioned above. Owners with software version 2024.38.200 or newer do not need to take any action.
