Macau: As of the end of November, preliminary statistics show that the total foreign exchange reserves amount to 232.6 billion Macau patacas.
In November 2024, the trade-weighted Australian dollar index was 105.6, an increase of 1.64 points from the previous month and 0.93 points from the same period last year.
On December 13, the Monetary Authority of Macau announced that the total foreign exchange reserves of the Macau Special Administrative Region at the end of November 2024 were preliminarily estimated at MOP 232.6 billion (USD 29.02 billion), an increase of 1.7% from the revised total of MOP 228.6 billion (USD 28.56 billion) in October 2024. The foreign exchange reserves at the end of November 2024 were approximately equivalent to 11 times the circulating currency in Macau at the end of October 2024, or 90.0% of the Macau Yuan portion in the broad money supply (M2) in 2024.
The trade-weighted exchange rate index for the Macau Pataca in November 2024 was 105.6, an increase of 1.64 points from the previous month and 0.93 points from the same period last year, indicating an overall appreciation of the Macau Pataca against the currencies of its major trading partners.
