On November 15th, the State Post Bureau released the postal industry's operating conditions for the period of January to October 2024. The data shows that in October, the postal industry's volume of postal services reached 17.84 billion pieces, an increase of 22.0% year-on-year. Among them, the volume of express delivery services reached 16.31 billion pieces, an increase of 24.0% year-on-year. In October, the postal industry's business revenue reached 144.99 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year. Among them, the revenue from express delivery services reached 125.79 billion yuan, an increase of 12.3% year-on-year.
Overall, from January to October, the postal industry's volume of postal services reached a total of 155.5 billion pieces, an increase of 19.9% year-on-year. Among them, the volume of express delivery services reached 140.08 billion pieces, an increase of 22.3% year-on-year (calculated using a comparable caliber).
From January to October, the volume of same-city express delivery services reached 12.76 billion pieces, an increase of 17.8% year-on-year; the volume of cross-city express delivery services reached 124.28 billion pieces, an increase of 22.7% year-on-year; the volume of international/Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan express delivery services reached 3.04 billion pieces, an increase of 25.5% year-on-year.
From January to October, the postal industry's business revenue (excluding direct business revenue of postal savings banks) reached 1.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 10.5% year-on-year. Among them, the revenue from express delivery services reached 1.1 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.9% year-on-year.
From January to October, the proportions of same-city, cross-city, and international/Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan express delivery services accounted for 9.1%, 88.7%, and 2.2% of the total express delivery volume, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of same-city express delivery volume decreased by 0.4 percentage points, the proportion of cross-city express delivery volume increased by 0.3 percentage points, and the proportion of international/Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan volume increased by 0.1 percentage points.
From January to October, the proportions of express delivery volume in the eastern, central, and western regions were 72.6%, 18.6%, and 8.8%, respectively, and the proportions of business revenue were 74.7%, 15.0%, and 10.3%, respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of express delivery volume in the eastern region decreased by 2.1 percentage points, the proportion of business revenue decreased by 1.2 percentage points; the proportion of express delivery volume in the central region increased by 1.2 percentage points, the proportion of business revenue increased by 0.7 percentage points; the proportion of express delivery volume in the western region increased by 0.9 percentage points, the proportion of business revenue increased by 0.5 percentage points.
From January to October, the Concentration Index CR8 of express and parcel service brands was 85.2, which was basically unchanged compared to January to September.
