In the third quarter, the average rent for residential units in Macau was 137 Macau Patacas per square meter of usable area, an increase of 1.6% compared to the second quarter.

On November 14, data from the Statistics and Census Bureau of Macau showed that the average rent per square meter of usable area for residential units in the third quarter of 2024 was 137 Macau patacas, an increase of 1.6% from the second quarter. The average rent for shop units, on the other hand, fell by 1.1% to 491 Macau patacas, mainly due to lower rental values for new leases.
By district, the average rent for residential units in the new reclamation area of Hac Sa Wan (168 patacas) increased by 4.6%, while the average rents in the Outer Harbour and Nam Van Lake new reclamation area (141 patacas), and the Taipa Central district (136 patacas) increased by 1.9% and 1.6% respectively. The rent in Coloane (147 patacas) decreased by 0.1%. By usable area group, the average rent for residential units smaller than 50 square meters (168 patacas) and 50 to 99.9 square meters (136 patacas) increased by 1.7% and 1.4% respectively.
As for shop units, the average rents in the Hac Sa Wan and Iao Hon districts (468 patacas) and the Central district (709 patacas) decreased by 5.8% and 2.1% respectively, while in the Outer Harbour and Nam Van Lake new reclamation area (625 patacas), the rent increased by 0.4%.
The average rent for industrial units per square meter of usable area was 123 patacas, a decrease of 0.6% from the previous quarter; and for office units, the rent also decreased by 0.5% to 296 patacas.
Compared to the third quarter of 2023, the average rent for residential units increased by 4.4%, while the decreases for office, shop, and industrial units were 2%, 0.6%, and 0.3% respectively.
