On November 13th, the State Post Bureau released the China Express Development Index Report for October 2024. According to calculations, the China Express Development Index for October 2024 was 464.4, an increase of 21.1% compared to the previous year. The development scale index, service quality index, development capability index, and development trend index were 583.7, 703.8, 236.6, and 72.1 respectively, with year-on-year increases of 31.1%, 20.9%, 3.7%, and 6%. In October, the industry entered its peak season, with business growth accelerating significantly, efficient operation of delivery networks, continued deepening of industry collaboration, and improved cross-border service capabilities. In October, the development scale index for express delivery was 583.7, a year-on-year increase of 31.1%. It is estimated that express delivery volume will increase by around 24% year-on-year in October, and express delivery revenue will increase by approximately 16.5% year-on-year. The industry maintained rapid development in October, effectively meeting the needs for holiday delivery services and promoting the accelerated release of online consumer demand. In the first half of the month, express delivery companies actively supported sales of products around tourist attractions, promoted the "attraction + delivery" service model, and saw a steady increase in business volume. During the National Day holiday (October 1st to October 7th), a total of 3.161 billion parcels were collected, representing a 28.4% year-on-year increase in daily collection volume. Towards the end of the month, the industry gradually increased input to ensure the smooth operation of e-commerce promotions. Express delivery volume continued to be high, with a predicted daily volume of 570 million parcels, including a record-breaking 729 million parcels collected on October 22nd, a 74.0% year-on-year increase. In October, the service quality index for express delivery was 703.8, a year-on-year increase of 20.9%. The public satisfaction rating for express delivery services is estimated to be 84.3 points, an increase of 1.2 points year-on-year. The on-time delivery rate within 72 hours in key areas is expected to reach 84.3%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points year-on-year. Firstly, there is a continuous enrichment of manufacturing industry service solutions. Express delivery companies have innovated the "pre-inspection post-warehouse" service model, providing jewelry businesses with "offline delivery warehouse," "quality inspection + certification," and "warehousing + delivery" one-stop services, reducing business costs while effectively safeguarding consumer rights. Secondly, there is a continuous promotion of efficient Shenzhen Agricultural Power Group service channels. Express delivery companies have deepened the characteristic Shenzhen Agricultural Power Group delivery service, effectively reducing transportation costs and improving delivery efficiency through diversified transport, multi-level services, multi-temperature control, and multi-mode transportation, boosting the nationwide sales of local specialties such as Xinjiang beef and lamb, Honghu hairy crabs, Fuping persimmon cakes, and Shanxi Zilin vinegar. In October, the development capability index for express delivery was 236.6, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%. Firstly, there is an acceleration in upgrading infrastructure construction. Express delivery companies have completed and put into operation transfer centers and smart supply chain industrial parks in Linping, Dongguan, Baoying, Fuzhou, and other places, centralized renovation of distribution centers, and improved sorting efficiency on the trunk network through the configuration of intelligent sorting equipment and expanding operating space capacity, providing strong support for the peak season. Secondly, there is steady progress in the construction of air networks. The industry's self-owned aviation companies have opened new all-cargo flights such as "Shenzhen to Kuala Lumpur" and "Ezhou to Hong Kong," enhancing air cargo capacity and expanding the coverage area. Thirdly, there is a gradual enhancement of cross-border service capabilities. Express delivery companies are actively establishing cross-border facilities in Xiamen, Xixian New Area, Qingdao, Yiwu, Dongguan, and other places, offering customized cross-border services such as collection, warehousing, bonded storage, and shipping, efficiently connecting the cross-border "first mile" with trunk transport. Express delivery companies are focused on optimizing cross-border service solutions by increasing capacity in overseas warehouses and industrial warehouses, opening more cross-border parcel lines, increasing charter flights, promoting land-air intermodal transportation, and strengthening cooperation with overseas port service providers, continually improving cross-border service capabilities to provide overseas consumers with more convenient delivery services. In October, the development trend index was 72.1, a year-on-year increase of 6%. Express delivery companies actively expanding service areas and taking various measures to strengthen peak season guarantees, with the industry expected to maintain rapid growth in November.
