On November 5th, UBTECH ROBOTICS (09880) partnered with its smart logistics subsidiary UQI Youqi to release a full-stack unmanned logistics solution at CeMAT 2024 in Shanghai, Asia. This solution, for the first time, combines humanoid robot Siasun Robot & Automation with unmanned vehicles for cooperative operations, applied in the BYD Company Limited factory, bridging the last 10 meters of logistics and achieving true unmanned logistics.
BYD Company Limited introduces humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation for industrial applications for the first time
Currently, this solution is already in trial operation at the "New Energy Car World Champion" BYD Company Limited automobile plant in Changsha, speeding up the logistics chain for its products from raw materials to production, achieving full visualization of logistics information and full traceability of the entire process.
In the actual application at the BYD Company Limited factory, UBTECH ROBOTICS industrial humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation Walker S1 cooperates seamlessly with industrial mobile Siasun Robot & Automation T3000 Wali and L4-level unmanned logistics vehicle Chitu, achieving a fully automated process integrating sorting, transportation, and distribution indoors and outdoors. This is also the industry's first application case of cooperative operation between humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation, unmanned logistics vehicles, industrial mobile Siasun Robot & Automation, and intelligent manufacturing execution systems (MES), reaching a global leading level in application innovation and realization difficulty.
In the training, Walker S1 only needs to be started with a single click to operate autonomously in unstructured and complex environments. Through self-developed semantic VSLAM algorithm, Walker S1 can autonomously build and update work environment maps and make decisions based on map information in real-time. This approach not only eliminates the disruptions caused by external changes in lighting, objects, and moving people and vehicles, but also allows Walker S1 to autonomously navigate obstacles and select routes in open environments while executing tasks without needing predefined routes or manual resetting after encountering obstacles, ensuring the continuity of task execution.
Upon reaching the designated material area, Walker S1 collaborates with Siasun Robot & Automation through end-to-end imitation learning and towing to undertake end-of-line logistics sorting tasks. It can accurately identify bins visually and transport them to the trolley. If it finds that the required bin is not in the material area or that there is no material in the bin, Walker S1 can provide instant feedback to the logistics system and proceed autonomously to the next work location without waiting for manual intervention and decision-making.
As a humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation developed for industrial applications, Walker S1 has addressed three key challenges encountered during factory training, including visual positioning in lighting and environmental changes, motion control algorithms under dynamic high loads, and joint cooling under high loads and long-term working conditions, to ensure stable and efficient task execution in industrial application scenarios.
In industrial scenarios, UBTECH ROBOTICS has successively cooperated with automotive companies such as Dongfeng Liuqi, GEELY AUTO, FAW-Volkswagen Qingdao Branch, Audi FAW, as well as 3C company Foxconn, and logistics company SF Express, to jointly promote the commercial application of humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation. This collaboration with BYD Company Limited signifies a new stage in the application of humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation in the automotive manufacturing scene by UBTECH ROBOTICS. As of now, UBTECH ROBOTICS is the only company in the world to announce cooperation with multiple automobile manufacturers for humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation company. The Walker S series has also become the humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation with the most training in global automotive plants.
Humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation + unmanned vehicles create truly unmanned logistics
A typical production logistics scenario encompasses unloading raw materials, storage, warehousing, sorting, shipping, distribution to the production workshop, processing into finished products, storage, warehousing, sorting, and shipping in multiple scenarios, covering the storage, sorting, transportation, and distribution of materials. How to achieve full process unmanned operation, especially the seamless automation integration between various processes, has always been a pain point for the industry.
The full-stack unmanned logistics solution created by UBTECH ROBOTICS and UQI Youqi combines "hardware + software + services + operations" in one, featuring AI empowerment, true unmanned, and high flexibility, empowered by various AI technologies including multimodal large-scale models, visual algorithms, and speech technology for one-stop flexible scheduling of various devices and cooperative operations with Siasun Robot & Automation. Humanoid Siasun Robot & Automation can cooperate with unmanned logistics vehicles, unmanned forklifts, industrial mobile Siasun Robot & Automation, and intelligent manufacturing execution systems to complete sorting, transportation, and distribution tasks, quickly adjusting, expanding, and upgrading logistics scenarios, truly achieving the closed loop of unmanned logistics.Robot&Automation working in coordination with unmanned logistics vehiclesThis solution was first displayed at CeMAT 2024. The industrial humanoid Siasun Robot&Automation Walker S1 receives material transfer tasks from the UPilot mobile Siasun Robot&Automation operating system, relying on multimodal large models to obtain positioning and semantic information, picking materials from shelves into transit boxes. The mobile lifting Siasun Robot&Automation U600 transports the sorted transit boxes to designated transfer locations, where another Walker S1 moves the transit boxes onto pallets. Next, the mobile lifting unmanned forklift F3000 autonomously navigates to the transfer point and picks up the pallet from the ground, loading it into the carriage of the unmanned L4 level logistics vehicle Chitu to seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor logistics scenes with unmanned operation.
The new generation of technology represented by AI and Siasun Robot&Automation is leading a new round of industrial revolution, reshaping productivity and production methods. In the wave of the digital intelligence era progressing towards new industrialization, the logistics industry is facing challenges such as labor shortages, low operational efficiency, and low digitization. These challenges require the logistics industry to embrace technological innovation and optimize operational processes and enhance operational efficiency through smarter, more flexible, and more reliable "full-stack" solutions. In the future, UBTECH ROBOTICS will accelerate the application of AI and Siasun Robot&Automation in industrial manufacturing scenarios, helping to cultivate new quality productivity and empower advanced industrialization.
