On the news side, Manulife Financial announced its third-quarter performance as of September 30, 2024, with record highs in core profits and new insurance business. The core profit for the third quarter was CAD 1.8 billion, up 4% from the third quarter of 2023 when calculated at a fixed exchange rate; net income attributable to shareholders was CAD 1.8 billion, an increase of CAD 800 million year-on-year. The company recorded a new business value (NBV) of CAD 843 million, an increase of 40.5% year-on-year. The group announced a quarterly dividend of 0.4 Canadian dollars per share.
