Four months after its initial public release, OpenAI has introduced the highly anticipated human-like advanced artificial intelligence (AI) voice assistant feature to all paid users of ChatGPT. OpenAI announced on Tuesday that it has started rolling out the new ChatGPT Advanced Voice feature to subscribers of the OpenAI ChatGPT Plus and Team plans. The company also added that the feature will be made available to subscribers of the OpenAI Edu and Enterprise plans starting next week. OpenAI's latest move means that this week, both individual users of the Plus version of ChatGPT and small business team users of the Teams version can enable the new voice feature, simply by speaking without manually entering prompt words and engaging in GPT conversation; when accessing the Advanced Voice mode on the app, users will be notified through a pop-up window that they have entered the advanced voice assistant mode. OpenAI first showcased this voice feature in May of this year, demonstrating how it can quickly respond to written and visual prompts from users. However, the company delayed the release of this feature to address potential security issues. In July, the company introduced this advanced voice feature to a limited number of paid Plus users. OpenAI states that the voice feature is unable to mimic the way others speak, and has added new filters to ensure the software can detect and reject requests for generating music or other forms of copyrighted audio. However, this new voice assistant feature lacks many of the functionalities demonstrated by OpenAI in May, such as computer vision capabilities - which allowed GPT to provide voice feedback on a user's dance moves simply by using a smartphone camera.
