Over $2.1 billion to be reinvested! Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN.US) increases investment in delivery service projects.

Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN.US) announced on Thursday that it is investing over $2.1 billion in its delivery service partner program. The company stated that this funding will be used for safety projects, rate cards, training, value-added services, and incentives. Over the past six years, the company's total investment in small business delivery service projects has reached $12.3 billion. Amazon.com, Inc. stated, "In order to help DSPs (Digital Service Providers) provide higher wages and benefits to drivers, we will be investing an additional $660 million next year for the increase of DSP rate cards and bonuses. We expect that our investment will help DSPs raise driver wages to nearly $22.00 per hour on average nationwide (depending on their location), an increase of 7% from last year." It is reported that many DSPs are already paying their drivers over $22 per hour. In terms of safety, Amazon.com, Inc. stated that by the end of this year, it will use artificial intelligence and technology tools to identify risk features on 200 million roadways and provide drivers with 18 million safety tips.
