On June 6th, the Hong Kong Listed Companies Association launched the first "ESG Certification Professional Exam" (ESGCP) in Hong Kong, which is oriented towards listing rules.
On June 6th, the Hong Kong Listed Companies Chamber of Commerce launched the first "ESG Certification Professional Examination" (ESGCP) in Hong Kong, with the aim of establishing individuals' awareness of the requirements of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (00388) "Environmental, Social, and Governance Reporting Guide" and compliance with ESG standards, in order to increase the number of locally recognized ESG professionals to meet market demands.
Daniel Wong, the Secretary-General of the Chamber of Commerce, explained the reason for introducing the ESGCP: "For those interested in working in the ESG industry or needing to perform ESG-related roles such as non-executive directors or directors of listed companies, as well as investors, asset managers, and professionals responsible for listed companies in the capital markets, the ESGCP exam can help them prepare. As the first assessment in Hong Kong based on the list rules and ESG reporting guidelines, this exam meets the needs of the market."
Wong also added that this exam will assess the level of awareness of ESG professionals in compliance with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange rules and ESG standards, thereby promoting the development of the ESG industry towards greater professionalism.
