A jade mine collapsed in northern Myanmar, around 20 people went missing.

The police in the town of Pagan, Kachin State, northern Myanmar, said on July 21 that a collapse occurred in a jade mine area in the town on that morning. One person has been confirmed dead and around 20 others are missing. The Pagan police told reporters that rescue operations have been launched and one body of a victim has been found. Around 20 people are still buried in the mud, and rescue personnel have to use heavy machinery for the operation. Due to ongoing rainfall in the area, the rescue operation is facing difficulties and is still ongoing. A rescue worker told reporters that when the collapse occurred, some people were mining jade below and some surrounding houses also collapsed. It is expected that the number of casualties will increase.
