Israel approves plan to resettle towns on the northern and southern borders.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated on X platform that the cabinet has approved 1.3 billion new shekels in funding to increase the population in towns along the northern border with Lebanon and southern border with Gaza. The plan aims to allow former residents who were evacuated during wars with Lebanon and Gaza to return, while also attracting new families. "This is a comprehensive initiative - not only to rebuild, but also to double or triple the population in communities along the north and south borders." Note: Israel refers to promoting the return of residents to the north as a war objective.
