Three individuals are facing another accusation of misappropriating public funds for the defense facilities at the Russian border.

On July 20th local time, it was reported by the central news agency that investigators have charged Alexei Soshnikov, former head of the Belgorod Region Infrastructure Management Authority, and two of his subordinates with embezzlement of public funds during the construction of defense facilities in the region's border area. The deputy governor of Belgorod Region, Rustem Zaynullin, was arrested on June 21st in connection with this case. According to the investigation, Zaynullin, in collaboration with others, embezzled at least 32 million rubles, with around 4 million rubles being his personal income. This money was originally intended for the construction of border defense facilities in Belgorod Region. Three businessmen have also been detained in connection with this case.
