In the past two months, high temperatures in Spain have caused over a thousand deaths.
The Spanish Ministry of Environment recently cited data from the Carlos III Health Institute to release a statement, stating that from May 16 to July 13, a total of 1180 people in Spain have died from heat-related causes, which is significantly higher than the same period last year. Most of the deceased were over the age of 65, and over half of them were female. This is related to the high proportion of elderly women in the Spanish population.
