Albanian parliamentary election voting ends, ruling party expected to win majority of votes.

On the 11th local time, Albania held parliamentary elections. A total of 11 political parties and party alliances competed for the 140 seats in parliament. Voting started at 7 am local time on the 11th and ended at 7 pm. For this election, Albania had a total of 5,225 polling stations nationwide, and for the first time allowed Albanian diaspora living abroad to vote through mail and other means. According to data released by the Albanian Central Election Commission, as of 6 pm local time on the 11th, the voter turnout was 41.38%. Preliminary results will be announced within 48 hours. According to exit polls conducted by local media, the ruling Socialist Party is expected to win 51.8% of the vote, while the main opposition Democratic Party will receive 38% of the vote.
