A collapsed gold mine in Angola has killed at least 28 people.
According to Angolan media reports on the 24th, a collapse occurred at an illegal gold mine in the northern province of Bengo, resulting in at least 28 deaths. The Angolan police said in a statement on the 24th that the accident occurred in the village of Canacassala, about 60 kilometers from the capital Luanda. The victims were between 18 and 40 years old, including 13 from the same family who were illegally mining for gold at the time of the incident. The police stated that the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals and rescue teams are still searching for the missing.
