Tianjin Mayor Zhang met with Tashkent Mayor Umutzakov from Uzbekistan.
On the morning of May 24th, Zhang Guo, the Mayor of Tianjin, met with the Mayor of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Umarzakoff, at the Yinxing Hotel. Zhang Guo welcomed the guests to Tianjin, saying that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Mirziyoyev, the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan is deepening. Tianjin is located in the capital metropolitan area, serving as a hub of the Belt and Road Initiative with convenient transportation, solid industrial foundation, and rich scientific and educational resources. Tashkent is a sister city of Tianjin, and in recent years, there has been deep and practical cooperation in fields such as trade, education, and the opening of the direct Tashkent-Central Asia freight train last year has further facilitated logistics between the two sides. It is hoped that the important results of the SCO Tianjin Summit, such as green industries and digital economy cooperation platforms, will be beneficial to promoting exchange between enterprises and market connections, strengthening cooperation in economics, trade, investment, infrastructure construction, higher education, and making new contributions to the development of bilateral relations.
Umarzakoff positively praised the achievements in Tianjin's economic development and urban construction, expressing a desire to deepen exchanges and connections to facilitate Tianjin enterprises' investments and development in Tashkent. He also expressed a wish to continue expanding cooperation in economy, trade, urban construction, industry, culture, and promote the friendly city relationship between the two cities to a higher level. The Uzbek Ambassador to China Alzajev, Deputy Mayor Wang Xiufeng, and Secretary General of the Municipal Government Hu Xueming attended the meeting.
