According to the General Administration of Customs, in order to facilitate various sectors in grasping the data, the mainland customs will work together with Hong Kong and Macao to research, compile, and timely release external trade statistics of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a whole. The General Administration of Customs recently introduced "Several Measures to Support the Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" with 20 specific measures proposed from 5 aspects to further support the construction of the Greater Bay Area. Specifically focusing on integrated development, strengthening the connection mechanism for rules, and enhancing the level of market integration in the Greater Bay Area, it explicitly mentions collaborating with Hong Kong and Macao to compile and release statistics on external trade in the Greater Bay Area, promoting cooperation and mutual recognition with Hong Kong and Macao. Currently, the 9 mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as Hong Kong and Macao, each separately compile statistics on foreign trade in their respective regions, making it impossible to obtain overall foreign trade data for the entire Greater Bay Area by simply adding them up. There is an urgent need to deepen information sharing. Lin Shaobin, Director of the Comprehensive Business Department of the General Administration of Customs, stated that mainland customs will collaborate with Hong Kong and Macao to compile and timely release statistics on external trade in the Greater Bay Area as a whole, conduct trend and structural analysis of foreign trade, and make the evaluation of the development of foreign trade in the Greater Bay Area more scientific and comprehensive for better understanding by various sectors. As one of the most open and economically vibrant regions in China, the resilience and vitality of foreign trade development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is strong. The total import and export value of the 9 mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area exceeded 9 trillion yuan in 2025, reaching 3.4 trillion yuan in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 18.4%, demonstrating the strong vitality of the economic development in the Greater Bay Area.
