The other side of the coin is that the inherent cyclical fluctuations of the bulk information service industry, as well as the industry's natural growth ceiling, will still exert substantial pressure on its valuation.
Sublime China Information (301299.SZ)'s journey to a Hong Kong listing has seen its latest development. After first filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on November 28 last year, Sublime China Information submitted its listing application to the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange for the second time on August 25, with Ping An Securities (Hong Kong) as its sole sponsor. According to China Insights Consultancy data, by 2025 revenue, Sublime China Information ranks first in the energy commodities segment of China's bulk commodity information services industry, with a market share of approximately 31.9%; and ranks second in China's bulk commodity information services industry, with a market share of 12.4%. Its leading market position has translated into tangible performance growth. Data shows that from 2023 to 2025, Sublime China Information's revenue was approximately 284 million, 294 million, and 356 million yuan respectively, with a compound annual growth rate of 11.96%, while net profit over the same period was approximately 52.066 million, 70.509 million, and 71.125 million yuan respectively, with a compound annual growth rate of 16.88%. Entering the first half of 2026, the growth momentum continued. During the reporting period, revenue rose 8.26% year-on-year to 185 million yuan, while net profit surged 13.03% year-on-year to 41.292 million yuan, with profit growth outpacing revenue and profitability quality further improving. Its industry leadership combined with solidly growing performance is undoubtedly a bonus point for Sublime China Information's Hong Kong IPO. But on the other side of the coin, the inherent cyclical fluctuations of the bulk information services industry, as well as the industry's natural growth ceiling, will still exert substantial pressure on its valuation. High gross margin, high financial quality and high stickiness: the "three highs" highlight bright fundamentals From a fundamental perspective, Sublime China Information can be described as a typical "small and beautiful" data company, reflected in multiple dimensions such as a good business model, a real moat, high financial quality, and generous dividends. Sublime China Information's business model is good because the company has turned bulk commodity price information into a business that is "reusable, prepayable, and highly sticky." The company has four major business segments: information services, digital intelligence services, consulting services, and conference and exhibition services. The first two major services mainly belong to a subscription model and are standardized products that are "built once and reused across multiple customers." The advantage of this standardized product model is that once the data "collectioncleaningassessmentdistribution" process is completed, the marginal cost of adding a new subscription customer is very low. Price data can be resold repeatedly, reports can be templated, and terminals/APIs can be called concurrently. Compared with project-based consulting firms, it does not need to add staff proportionally for each new contract, which is a typical data product model. Thanks to the "collect once, reuse across multiple customers" model, Sublime China Information's gross margin has consistently remained at a high level. In 2025, overall gross margin was 62.74%, with information services gross margin reaching 70.39%, highlighting its high-margin advantage. In terms of charging models, Sublime China Information's information services use an annual fee model, while digital intelligence services use a terminal/API subscription model, forming the company's prepaid base. Conference and exhibition services are paid in full before the event, and consulting services are collected by milestone. For a To B data company, this mixed charging model offers revenue predictability far stronger than a project-based model, with cash flow preceding revenue. Under this mixed charging model, Sublime China Information's contract liabilities at the end of 2025 piled up to 298 million yuan, while accounts receivable were only 11.5 million yuan, meaning there is almost no issue of funds being tied up by credit sales. The company's net operating cash flow has long been higher than net profit attributable to shareholders. In 2025, operating cash flow was 97.78 million yuan, 1.49 times the 65.64 million yuan of net profit attributable to shareholders, indicating high profit quality and that what it earns is almost entirely real cash. Good cash flow means the company does not need to borrow to expand, resulting in low liabilities and a high-quality asset structure. At the end of 2025, the company's interest-bearing debt was only about 11.27 million yuan, with an interest-bearing debt ratio of 2.8%. Most of the 40.8% asset-liability ratio consisted of operating contract liabilities and payables, rather than bank borrowings. Abundant free cash flow combined with low debt means the company neither needs to let interest expenses erode profits nor dilute equity for expansion. Instead, it has the capacity to implement a generous "twice-a-year dividend" policy, with cumulative cash distributions exceeding 325 million yuan since listing, indirectly highlighting the company's high-quality fundamentals. In addition, Sublime China Information's business model does not depend on major customers, so the non-renewal of a single customer has little overall impact, and once customers start using it, high stickiness forms because price data must be continuous and traceable. If procurement/trading/risk control systems embed Sublime's price center, Hongtao/Hongqi terminals, and APIs into workflows, the value of such data lies not in being "new," but in being "continuous, comparable, and traceable"the longer the same sample series, the higher the switching and verification costs of changing suppliers, and customer stickiness arises from this. This high customer stickiness also constitutes Sublime China Information's real moat. ARPU decline has not yet stabilized, and the industry ceiling suppresses future growth space While recognizing Sublime China Information's bright spots, the potential risks and challenges in its business operations should not be ignoredthese factors will largely determine the company's valuation anchor. The first is the disruption to performance release from industry cyclicality. Demand for bulk commodity information services is essentially tied to price volatility and trading activity. Once varieties such as energy, chemicals, Shenzhen Agricultural Power Group, and metals enter a downturn or low-volatility phase, traders, producers, and investment research institutions will prioritize cutting non-rigid information budgets, and both new subscriptions and renewal rates will come under pressure. Although the company uses a prepaid system, its scale will still fluctuate with the prosperity cycle and is not completely immune. The second is the continued decline in overall paying customer ARPU. Data shows that Sublime China Information's overall paying customer ARPU (including consolidated entities) plunged from 2,977 yuan in 2024 to 1,726 yuan in 2025, and further fell to about 1,004 yuan in the first half of 2026 (half-year basis). The main reason for this decline is that after consolidating Wuxi Chulei in February 2025, a large number of low-ticket customers poured in, rapidly expanding the denominator while the incremental consolidated revenue was limited, passively diluting the average. The trend in the information segment's ARPU more intuitively confirms thisfalling from 1,666 yuan in 2024 to 935 yuan in 2025 and about 554 yuan in the first half of 2026. It is worth noting that revenue per customer for digital intelligence services was about 25,700 yuan in 2024, about 26,700 yuan in 2025, and 13,200 yuan in the first half of 2026 (broadly stable on an annualized basis), indicating that the high-value-added base has not yet collapsed. The key, however, is whether it can subsequently migrate low-ticket customers to high-ticket customers through digital intelligence products such as data terminals, APIs, and price centers. If cross-selling conversion rates fall short of expectations, customer expansion will merely dilute revenue across more low-ticket accounts, making it difficult for scale growth to proportional profit elasticity. Therefore, when assessing growth quality, one should not only look at the apparent growth rates of customer count and revenue, but also track internal renewal rates, digital intelligence penetration, and the stabilization inflection point of ARPU. The third is the constraint on valuation space from the domestic industry ceiling. According to China Insights Consultancy data, the market size of China's bulk commodity information services industry (covering all service types such as price assessment, data intelligence, consulting, and conferences and exhibitions) increased from 2 billion yuan in 2021 to 2.5 billion yuan in 2025, and is expected to reach 4 billion yuan by 2030, with a CAGR of 11.4% from 2026 to 2030. Among this, the traditional price assessment business, which accounts for 75% of the share, grows at only 2.6%, while the high-growth data intelligence segment is expected to be only 1.3 billion yuan by 2030. Although Sublime is a leader in the energy sector (31.9% market share) and holds about 12.4% of the overall industry, under a total domestic market of only 4 billion yuan by 2030 on a full-caliber basis, relying solely on share gains in the existing market will make it difficult to support the high valuation premium the market assigns to it. Under such development difficulties, the key to Sublime China Information's breakthrough lies in whether it can achieve substantive progress in three directions. First, whether digital intelligence services can upgrade from a "supplementary business" to a "core growth engine"in 2025, digital intelligence revenue accounted for only 23.2%. If products such as API calls, data terminals, and price forecasting can pull ARPU back onto an upward trajectory, the serviceable market will far exceed the boundaries of traditional information services. Second, whether price benchmarks can truly go globalglobal bulk commodity information services are expected to be about 55.4 billion yuan by 2030, while Sublime's overseas revenue accounted for only 12.67% in 2025. If energy and chemical varieties can form pricing influence in Asia and even globally, the ceiling will rise substantially. Third, whether it can fill shortfall categories such as steel and nonferrous metals through M&A, and transform AI from a cost-reduction tool into a chargeable decision-making product. Only by achieving more significant results in digital intelligence monetization, international expansion, and full-category coverage can Sublime China Information be expected to break through the valuation anchor of the 4 billion yuan domestic total market and realize a value re-rating from "small and beautiful" to "big and strong."
